Why do I need regular checkups?

Regular dental checkups are important

You should have a checkup every 6 to 12 months

At your checkup, the dentist will examine the soft tissues of your mouth. Your dentist will look for gum disease which, if identified early, is fully reversible. Similarly, oral cancers are much more treatable if they are caught early.

Your teeth will be checked individually for signs of decay. Tooth decay can initially be painless and difficult to spot, so it is vital for your dentist to examine your mouth regularly. Again, if decay is identified early treatment is generally simpler, less expensive and the chance of saving the teeth affected is much improved.
